While my husband and I were still dating we talked about how we wanted to buy some land... have a "*compassionate homestead" and live a simple life.
Fast forward 12 years and two kids to the present and we are living in a perfect, pleasant valley Sunday kind of HOA with a backyard so small our 14lb rescue dog can make it to the poor squirrel in 2 seconds flat (poor squirrel).
Don't get me wrong... I love living in the big city of San Antonio, Texas. I am a classic introvert and treasure the time I get to spend in the top notch museums around here. The access to art makes my little loner heart happy... and the ease of Amazon Prime Now... ahhhh... Amazon Prime Now.
All that to say... when it comes down to it... all we really want is a place in the world to have some critters and let our kids roam.
So when we were told that my husbands position could be worked remote, we jumped at the chance to spread our wings!
Our picture perfect 2500 square foot home on a cul-de-sac is being traded for a 1600 square foot home on 12 beautiful acres... 5 hours outside of our current city!
We are thrilled!
It is literally a dream come true... and we couldn't be more excited to begin a new chapter.
*A compassionate homestead is what we called a farm that didn't kill the animals. I do not claim to be vegetarian, but I am an animal person, and I just cannot eat something I have fallen in love with and given a name... it just isn't in my make-up. I know my limits and that would be it. Instead we would focus on things like eggs, fiber, and honey... gardening and woodworking... the simple life.
